Harvinder Singh Wins Historic Gold at Paris Paralympics

Para-archer Harvinder Singh made history by winning a gold medal at the Paris Paralympics. This is the first time an Indian has won a medal in para-archery at both the Olympics and Paralympics. Harvinder defeated Poland’s Lukasz Ciszek 6-0 in the individual recurve para-archery final.

Harvinder also won a bronze medal in the same event at the Tokyo Paralympics 2020. The Indian team has now won 22 medals in total at the Paris Paralympics, including four gold, eight silver, and ten bronze medals. India is currently ranked 15th in the medal tally and hopes to win more medals in the remaining days of the competition.

In the Tokyo Paralympics held from August 24 to September 5, 2021, India achieved its best-ever medal haul with 19 medals, including five gold, eight silver, and six bronze medals.

Additionally, para-athlete Sachin Khilari won a silver medal in the men’s shot put F46 final with a 16.32-meter throw, which is the area best. He narrowly missed the gold by just 0.6 meters.

On Monday and Tuesday, the Indian team won 13 medals, bringing their total to 20 medals, including three gold, seven silver, and ten bronze medals.
