In Pune, Maharashtra, former minister Harshvardhan Patil joined the Sharad Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party (NCP-SP) after leaving the BJP. Patil admitted to having “invisibly” supported Supriya Sule, Baramati MP, during the Lok Sabha elections. He joined the party in the presence of leaders like Sharad Pawar, Supriya Sule, and Jayant Patil.

Invisible Support for Supriya Sule

Patil expressed pride in Supriya Sule’s success, revealing that he had indirectly supported her victory in the Baramati Lok Sabha seat. He stated, “We had an invisible hand in her Lok Sabha victory.”

Sharad Pawar’s Support

Sharad Pawar hinted at Patil’s candidacy for the Indapur seat in the upcoming assembly elections, urging people to support him. Pawar emphasized the need for experienced leaders like Patil to bring change in Maharashtra.

BJP’s Reaction

The BJP reacted strongly to Patil’s revelation, with spokesperson Keshav Upadhye criticizing his loyalty. Patil left the BJP due to seat adjustments, making it difficult for him to contest from Indapur.

Supriya Sule’s Victory

In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Supriya Sule won the Baramati seat against Ajit Pawar’s wife, Sunetra Pawar, by over 1.5 lakh votes.
