Harpreet Singh, Brother of MP Amritpal Singh, Arrested in Drug Case in Jalandhar

Harpreet Singh, the brother of jailed Lok Sabha MP Amritpal Singh, has been arrested by Jalandhar Police in a drug case. He was arrested along with two others, Sandeep Arora and Lovepreet, on Thursday evening. The police confiscated 4 grams of a synthetic drug called ice from them, according to Senior Superintendent of Police Ankur Gupta.

Details of the Arrest

Senior Superintendent of Police Ankur Gupta stated, “Three people identified as Lovepreet, Harpreet, and Sandeep Arora have been arrested. They were arrested last night. 4 grams of ice (a synthetic drug) have been recovered.”

Background on Amritpal Singh

Amritpal Singh, the Lok Sabha MP from Khadoor Sahib, is originally from Jallu Kheda village in Amritsar. He is currently in jail in Assam’s Dibrugarh district. Before returning to Punjab in 2022, he lived in Dubai. After the death of Punjabi actor Deep Sidhu, he became the chief of Sidhu’s pro-Khalistani organization, Waris Punjab De.

Amritpal Singh was arrested from Moga’s Rode village after he and his supporters staged a protest at the Ajnala police station on February 23, 2023, clashing with police to free one of his aides. He was charged under the National Security Act and sent to Dibrugarh Jail. In the 2024 parliamentary elections, he won the Khadoor Sahib seat and was recently granted a four-day custody parole to take his oath as a Lok Sabha member.
