Harish Rawat Defends Rahul Gandhi Against BJP Criticism After USA Visit

Dehradun (Uttarakhand) [India], September 11: Former Uttarakhand Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Harish Rawat has criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for their comments on Rahul Gandhi’s recent visit to the USA. Rawat stated that the BJP is scared of Rahul Gandhi because of the positive reception he received during his visit.

Rahul Gandhi, a Congress leader and the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, was on a three-day visit to the United States. During his trip, he engaged with the Indian diaspora, students, and US lawmakers. His meetings included discussions at the Rayburn House Office Building, hosted by Congressman Bradley James Sherman, and attended by US Congress members such as Jonathan Jackson, Ro Khanna, Raja Krishnamoorthi, Barbara Lee, Shri Thanedar, Jesus G. “Chuy” Garcia, Ilhan Omar, Hank Johnson, and Jan Schakowsky.

Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh criticized Rahul Gandhi for his remarks on the Sikh community and reservations, calling them “misleading, baseless,” and “extremely shameful.” Singh accused Gandhi of spreading lies and hurting the dignity of India. He specifically refuted Gandhi’s claim that the Sikh community in India is not allowed to wear turbans in Gurdwaras.

Additionally, BJP IT Cell head Amit Malviya accused the Congress of working against the country following Gandhi’s meeting with US Congresswoman Ilhan Omar.
