Hardik Pandya to Lead India in T20s, KL Rahul in ODIs, Gautam Gambhir Appointed Head Coach

Following Rohit Sharma’s retirement from T20Is after winning the ICC T20 World Cup, all-rounder Hardik Pandya is likely to lead the Indian cricket team in T20 matches. Meanwhile, wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul will take charge of the team in One Day Internationals (ODIs).

In the T20 World Cup, Pandya scored 144 runs in six innings with an average of 48.00 and a strike rate of 151.57. He also took 11 wickets in eight games. This performance marked a comeback for Pandya, who faced criticism during the IPL 2024 season.

KL Rahul, despite being left out of the T20 World Cup squad, performed brilliantly in the ODI World Cup 2023, scoring 386 runs in nine innings. He played a crucial role in India’s victory against Australia with an unbeaten 97.

Additionally, Gautam Gambhir has been appointed as the new head coach of the Indian men’s cricket team. Gambhir, a former cricketer and mentor of Kolkata Knight Riders, will replace Rahul Dravid. BCCI Secretary Jay Shah expressed full confidence in Gambhir’s ability to lead the team forward.
