Hardeep Singh Puri and Geoffery Pyatt Discuss Energy Cooperation at GasTech 2024
Houston [US], September 18: Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri met with US Assistant Secretary of State for Energy Resources Geoffery Pyatt during GasTech 2024 in Houston. They reviewed current energy cooperation and explored ways to strengthen bilateral efforts for a just and orderly energy transition.
Puri shared that their cooperation in the energy sector is growing due to collaboration between institutions and companies from both nations. He also inaugurated the India Pavilion at GasTech, showcasing India’s latest technological advancements and future opportunities for collaboration and investment.
Puri joined a ministerial panel with Egyptian Minister Karim Badawi, Nigeria’s Minister Ekperikpe Ekpo, Turkish Minister Alparslan Bayraktar, and Geoffery Pyatt. He emphasized India’s proactive approach in preventing a severe energy crisis and noted that India’s energy demand is expected to grow significantly by 2040 and double by 2050.
Highlighting India’s efforts to increase domestic production and adopt low-carbon solutions, Puri mentioned initiatives like the International Solar Alliance and the Global Biofuels Alliance. Earlier, Puri and US Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm reviewed progress under the Strategic Clean Energy Partnership, focusing on clean energy innovation and security.
