Hardeep Puri Talks About India’s Energy Future and Growth in the US
Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, who is visiting the United States, shared updates on India’s progress and future goals. He highlighted the achievements of the first 100 days of the new government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, emphasizing the goal of ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’.
Achievements in the Last 10 Years
Puri mentioned that urban spending has increased more than 11 times since 2004-2014, and over 4 crore houses have been built under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. He also noted the availability of gas cylinders in rural areas through the Ujjwala Yojana.
US-India Strategic Energy Cooperation
Puri discussed the US-India Strategic Energy Cooperation Partnership with US Secretary for Energy, Jennifer Granholm. He highlighted cooperation in traditional energy and new areas like biofuels and green hydrogen.
Energy Transition and Green Initiatives
Puri pointed out that India has made significant progress in blending biofuels, achieving a 10% blending target ahead of schedule. He also mentioned a recent conference on green hydrogen in Delhi, where the US was a partner country.

Puri shared that India is inviting global entities to collaborate in its exploration and production sector. He also highlighted India’s growth, stating that the country is transitioning to green energy while meeting its increasing energy demands.

After his visit to Washington DC, Puri will travel to Houston to sign several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) to enhance India’s exploration and production sector.
