Gwalior Hosts First International Cricket Match and Launches New MEMU Train

Gwalior Celebrates First International Cricket Match and New Train Launch

Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia expressed his joy as Gwalior, a city in Madhya Pradesh, India, hosted its first international cricket match between India and Bangladesh. The match took place at the Shrimant Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Stadium, which can accommodate 30,000 fans. This event marks a historic moment for the city as it hosts a T20 match for the first time.

In addition to the cricket match, Gwalior received another significant gift: a new MEMU (Mainline Electric Multiple Unit) train. This train is expected to enhance connectivity and make travel more convenient for both residents and visitors. Scindia mentioned that it was his father’s dream to convert the narrow gauge train from Gwalior to Sheopur into a broad gauge, and the inauguration of the MEMU train is a step towards fulfilling that dream.

The cricket match is part of a three-match T20I series between India and Bangladesh. Suryakumar Yadav leads the Indian team, with players like Sanju Samson, Jitesh Sharma, and Abhishek Sharma in the squad. The series will continue with matches in Delhi and Hyderabad on October 9 and 12, respectively.
