On Monday, Guwahati police successfully rescued two minor girls from a brothel in Rawta, Bihar. The operation was part of a larger investigation into a human trafficking and flesh trade racket.

How It Happened

According to the Guwahati city police, the investigation led to the arrest of four individuals: Tanveer Alom from Bihar, Idrish Ali from Basistha in Assam, Sikandar Ali from Paltan Bazaar Railway station, and Khairun Nesa from Panjipara in West Bengal.

Commissioner of Police Diganta Borah explained that the girls were sold for Rs 1,10,000 by Idris Ali and Khairun Nessa. The gang targeted vulnerable young girls and women, luring them into being abducted and sold to work in brothels.

The Complaint

On June 29, a mother lodged a complaint at Bhangagarh Police Station in Guwahati, stating that her 18-year-old daughter went missing after demanding a new mobile phone. During the investigation, a ransom call demanding Rs 30,000 was traced to Purnia, Bihar.

The Rescue

A police team was sent to Purnia, where they apprehended Tanveer Alom and rescued the two girls. The investigation revealed that the girls were planning to go to Delhi when they were deceived by Sikandar Ali, who handed them over to Idrish Ali and his wife. The girls were then sold and forced to work in a brothel in Rawta, Bihar.
