Guwahati Hosts ‘Hamara Samvidhan Hamara Samman’ Event

The city of Guwahati is set to host the third regional event of the ‘Hamara Samvidhan Hamara Samman’ campaign. This initiative is part of the Designing Innovative Solutions for Holistic Access to Justice (DISHA) scheme by the Ministry of Law and Justice, Government of India. The event will take place on November 19 at the IIT Guwahati Auditorium, celebrating the 75th anniversary of the Indian Constitution’s adoption.

Event Highlights

The event will begin with the planting of saplings to honor the 15 women members of the Constituent Assembly who contributed significantly to India’s Constitution. A key feature will be the launch of the Samvidhan Katta magazine, which includes 75 stories highlighting the Constitution’s role in daily life and experiences from the Tele Law and Nyaya Bandhu legal aid programs.

Additionally, a special comic book will be released, depicting real-life stories of 10 beneficiaries who have protected their constitutional rights. Eight podcasts focusing on citizens’ constitutional rights through the Tele Law and Nyaya Bandhu programs will also be unveiled.

Distinguished Guests

The event will feature Arjun Ram Meghwal, Minister of State for Law and Justice, and Justice Vijay Bishnoi, Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court, as the Guest of Honour. An audience of around 1,400 participants, including judges, legal professionals, government officials, law students, and community representatives, is expected, with additional virtual participation.

Campaign Background

This event is part of the nationwide ‘Hamara Samvidhan Hamara Samman’ campaign, launched by the Vice-President of India at the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar International Centre in New Delhi. The campaign aims to promote understanding of the Constitution and raise awareness about legal rights, focusing on justice accessibility. Previous events in Bikaner and Prayagraj have seen significant participation.
