Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport (LGBIA) in Guwahati, Assam, is celebrating Aviation Security Culture Week from August 5 to August 11. The theme for the week is ‘Enhancing Passenger Security through Effective Divestment’.

Opening Ceremony

The event began with a ceremony outside the airport terminal, featuring lamp lighting and opening remarks by the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) for the Guwahati North-East region. A formal oath-taking session was also held.

Exciting Activities

Throughout the week, various activities are planned:

  • A 5-kilometre mini-marathon passing through VIP Road and SOS Road, ending at the airport.
  • An interactive quiz competition among aviation stakeholders.
  • Educational visits to schools and slum areas for underprivileged children, coordinated with local NGOs.
  • Entertaining skits performed by staff members for passengers.

Closing Ceremony

The week will conclude with a closing ceremony featuring a prize distribution for quiz winners and a vibrant flash dance performance.

An LGBIA spokesperson stated, “Aviation Security Culture Week is not just an event; it is a testament to the airport’s ongoing efforts to set the benchmark for security and engagement in the aviation industry.” The airport also conducts regular simulated exercises to enhance team skills and ensure a safe and exceptional passenger experience.
