Gulab Chand Kataria Becomes New Punjab Governor
Gulab Chand Kataria has been sworn in as the new Governor of Punjab and administrator of Chandigarh. He emphasized his commitment to serving the people and fulfilling his responsibilities.

Kataria stated, “The President has given me the responsibility of Punjab. I will make every effort to carry it out like a good public servant. These posts are not decorations; they require serving the people.” He added that in his 40-45 years of public service, he has always considered serving the people his ‘dharma’ and will continue to do so in his new role.
Oath Ceremony
Punjab and Haryana High Court Chief Justice Sheel Nagu administered the oath of office to Kataria at a ceremony at Raj Bhavan. Kataria, who was the Assam governor before his present assignment, replaces Banwarilal Purohit, who served as the governor of Punjab for nearly three years before resigning in February. President Droupadi Murmu accepted his resignation on July 27.
