Gujarat’s Big Steps Towards Green Future Under CM Bhupendra Patel

Gandhinagar (Gujarat) [India], July 26: Gujarat is actively working towards achieving Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of net-zero carbon emissions by 2070. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, the state is promoting economic development through eco-friendly policies.

According to the Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Gujarat recorded an increase of nearly 2 lakh PNG connections between August 2023 and February 2024. The total number of domestic PNG connections rose from 3,078,162 on July 31, 2023, to 3,253,175 by February 29, 2024, marking a 5.6% increase in just seven months.

Gujarat leads the country in the number of commercial and industrial PNG connections, with 23,445 commercial and 5,786 industrial connections. This is significantly higher than other states like Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Delhi, and Rajasthan.

Gujarat State Energy and Petrochemicals Minister Kanubhai Desai highlighted that the initiatives started by Prime Minister Narendra Modi when he was the Chief Minister of Gujarat, such as the establishment of the Climate Change Department and the introduction of a pioneering Solar policy, continue to thrive under CM Bhupendra Patel’s leadership.

Additionally, Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation-owned Gujarat Gas Limited (GGL) has seen a 158% increase in its pipeline network over the past ten years, expanding from 13,517 kilometres in March 2014 to 34,832 kilometres by March 2024.

The Gujarat government remains committed to promoting natural gas usage at industrial, commercial, and household levels as part of its vision for environmental conservation and renewable energy promotion.
