Gujarat Police’s Big Drug Bust: 14 Arrested and Drugs Worth Rs 836 Crores Seized
The Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) has made significant strides in combating drug trafficking. From August 1 to the present day, the ATS has arrested 14 individuals and seized drugs worth Rs 836.36 crores.
Details of the Seizure
The confiscated drugs include:
- 25.632 kilograms of marijuana (ganja)
- 12.041 kilograms of charas
- 1,410 liters of Tramadol Hydrochloride tablets
- 793.232 kilograms of liquid Mephedrone (MD)
The cumulative value of these drugs is an astounding INR 836.36 crore.
Coordinated Efforts
The operation was a coordinated effort by the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), CID Crime, and the Gujarat Police Department. The crackdown spanned multiple districts, including Ahmedabad, West Kutch, Navsari, Panchmahal, Porbandar, and Gir Somnath.
Major Busts
In a significant achievement, the Gujarat ATS and Police nabbed a mephedrone lab in Bhiwandi, Maharashtra, and an illegal tramadol factory in Dahej. The police arrested Mohammad Yunus and Mohammad Adil, who were involved in making MD drugs in a flat in Bhiwandi. They seized 792 kg of liquid MD drugs worth Rs 800 crore.
