Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel Supports Women at Sakhi Samvad Program

Gandhinagar (Gujarat), July 31: A special event called ‘Sakhi Samvad’ was held in Gandhinagar, where Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel distributed aid to women of self-help groups. The program showcased products made by women from all 33 districts of Gujarat.

Under the National Rural Livelihood Mission Scheme, women in rural areas are receiving skill training and are being connected to various livelihood activities. This initiative, supported by the Gujarat Livelihood Promotion Company under the Rural Development Department, includes activities like sewing, catering, and making traditional foods and crafts. These efforts are helping women earn a stable income and become self-reliant, significantly improving their standard of living.

During the event, CM Bhupendra Patel announced Rs 350 crore assistance for over 2.8 lakh women from more than 28,000 self-help groups. He emphasized the government’s commitment to the economic upliftment of women, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of making 3 crore women in the country financially independent.

The CM expressed his admiration for the achievements of the women and assured that the government would address their concerns. He highlighted the success stories of women who have become the financial backbone of their families. For instance, in 2021-22, 8,500 women from Gujarat collected 5,000 metric tonnes of limbodi in just three months, earning Rs 4 crore.

The ‘Sakhi Samvad’ program is a significant step towards women’s empowerment, celebrating the dedication, courage, and hard work of self-help group members.
