Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel Launches ‘Viksit Gujarat @2047’ Initiative

Gandhinagar (Gujarat) [India], September 10: Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Gujarat has taken a major step towards realizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Viksit Bharat @2047’ through its own ‘Viksit Gujarat @2047’ initiative.

Establishment of GRIT

Following the model of NITI Aayog, the Gujarat State Institution for Transformation, or ‘GRIT,’ has been established. GRIT will serve as a think tank, providing leadership and strategic direction to ensure both short-term and long-term goals of the vision document are met.

Leadership and Members

The Chief Minister will head the Governing Body of GRIT, with the Finance Minister as Vice-Chairman and the Ministers of Agriculture, Health, Education, and Industry serving as members. The governing body will also include the Chief Advisor to the Chief Minister, the Chief Secretary, and the Additional Chief Secretary or Principal Secretary of the Finance and Planning Departments. Experts in various fields will be nominated by the state government.

Role of GRIT

GRIT will review the implementation of recommendations from the Task Force Committee aimed at achieving a five-trillion-dollar economy and oversee strategies for balanced economic growth across sectors such as industry, agriculture, investment, and exports. It will also review state schemes, identify areas for improvement, and promote good governance.

Collaboration and Technology

GRIT will collaborate with leading organizations for cross-sectoral partnerships, knowledge-sharing, and capacity-building programs. It will encourage the integration of technologies like Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, the Internet of Things, Robotics, GIS, Drone Technology, and Blockchain.

Financial Resources

GRIT will advise the State Government on mobilizing financial resources for state development through asset monetization, international financial institutions, CSR Trust Funds, and other sources.

Governing and Executive Committees

A governing body and an executive committee will be established to ensure effective implementation of GRIT’s work. The 10-member Executive Committee will handle day-to-day operations and oversee the execution of recommendations. The CEO of GRIT will chair this committee, with the Secretary of the Planning Division in the General Administration Department serving as the convener.

The Governing Body will meet at least once a year, and the Executive Committee will hold quarterly meetings. The General Administration Department-Planning Division will issue a formal resolution outlining the composition and scope of GRIT.
