Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel Launches ‘Shramik Basera Yojana’ for Workers’ Housing
Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel attended the foundation stone laying ceremony for the ‘Shramik Basera Yojana’ at Jagatpur in Ahmedabad. This initiative aims to provide temporary housing for around 3 lakh laborers near various Kadianakas in Gujarat over the next three years.
During the event, CM Patel highlighted the importance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s slogan ‘Shramev Jayate’ and Pandit Deendayalji’s slogan ‘Har Haat Ko Kam, Har Kam Ko Samman’. He emphasized the government’s commitment to improving the living standards of workers by providing essential facilities such as food, health, housing, and income.
The government has allocated Rs. 1500 crore for this initiative, which includes amenities like clean water, a kitchen, electricity, CCTV, toilets, street lights, security, sanitation, and medical facilities. CM Patel expressed his concern that laborers, despite their hard work, often lack proper housing for their families. The ‘Shramik Basera Yojana’ aims to address this issue by offering affordable accommodation and other benefits.
In the first phase, 17 Shramik Baseras will be constructed in Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Vadodara, and Rajkot, benefiting about 15,000 workers. Additionally, the Shramik Basera portal for registration to avail the scheme was launched during the event.
