Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel Launches Groundnut Procurement in Sabarkantha
The procurement of groundnut under the Price Support Scheme (PSS) began in Himmatnagar, Sabarkantha district, with Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel present. Accompanying him were Agriculture Minister Raghavji Patel and Minister Bachubhai Khabad. The CM distributed cheques to farmers after their crops were procured.
Purchases of groundnut, soybean, urad dal, and mung bean at support prices will occur at over 160 centers across Gujarat. In Sabarkantha, seven centers for groundnut, six for soybean, eight for rice, and two for mung dal have been identified based on registration and cultivated area.
Gujarat Agricultural Minister Raghavji Patel stated, “From today, purchase of groundnut, urad, and soybean on support price is starting in Gujarat. This purchase is being done through more than 160 centers in the state. Due to this, farmers will get the price of support price and they will also get the economic benefits.”
The Price Support Scheme, implemented by the Government of India, covers main crops like bajra, jowar, maize, paddy, cotton, tur, moong, urad, groundnut, sesamum, wheat, gram, mustard, and sugarcane. The Department of Agriculture and Cooperation, through NAFED, procures oil seeds, pulses, and cotton at the Minimum Support Price (MSP) declared by the government.
