Gujarat CM Honors Classical Music Artists at Tana-Riri Festival 2024
In Vadnagar, Gujarat, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel honored two female classical music artists, Vidushi Padma Suresh Talwalkar from Maharashtra and Pradipta Ganguly from Ahmedabad, with the Tana-Riri Award. This award, part of the Tana-Riri Festival 2024, celebrates the legacy of the Nagar sisters, Tana and Riri, who contributed significantly to classical music.
The festival, inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has been held annually since 2003. The Tana-Riri Award, established during Gujarat’s Golden Jubilee in 2010, recognizes accomplished female classical musicians. Each awardee received a cash prize of Rs2.5 lakh, a copper plaque, and the Tana-Riri Award.
Notable attendees included Tourism and Cultural Activities Minister Mulubhai Bera, Somabhai Modi, and other senior officials. The festival featured performances by Shashank Subramanyam and Parthiv Gohil, attracting many music enthusiasts.
Earlier, Chief Minister Patel visited Prerna School, where he interacted with students and learned about their creative activities. Students from various states showcased artistic items to the Chief Minister.
