On October 9, in Ahmedabad, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendrabhai Patel unveiled a special postal stamp to celebrate 25 years of Mundra Port. This event coincided with World Post Day and highlighted the port’s significant contributions to India’s maritime and economic sectors.

Transformation and Growth

Mundra Port, which began as a single jetty in 1998, has grown into India’s largest commercial port and a major global maritime hub. Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani expressed gratitude for the recognition, noting the port’s journey and its partnership with Gujarat.

Significant Contributions

The port handles 11% of India’s maritime cargo and 33% of the nation’s container traffic. It has contributed over Rs2.25 lakh crore to the exchequers and created more than 7.5 crore man-days of employment. Investments have exceeded Rs70,000 crore, benefiting over 3.5 lakh people through community initiatives.

Stamp Details

The stamp, titled “25 Years of Progress – Mundra Port,” was designed by India Post and Adani Ports. 5,000 sheets, totaling 60,000 stamps, are available for purchase. A special cover and stamp cancellation were also released, with a copy displayed at the National Philatelic Museum in New Delhi.

Global Vision

Mundra Port aims to become the world’s largest ports and logistics platform, with operations extending to Sri Lanka, Israel, and Tanzania.
