Gujarat Begins Road Repairs and Health Measures After Heavy Rains

Following heavy rains and floods in Gujarat, the state government has started relief and cleanliness work in various parts of the state. In Narmada district, immediate patchwork for damaged roads is being undertaken by the Narmada District Road and Building Department, following an assessment by the Narmada District Collector.

According to an official statement, the water in the district has receded, and the executive engineering team is carrying out the patchwork to ensure smooth travel for residents. The patchworks were carried out on Narmada road and roads connecting Rajpipla-Ankleshwar in Nandod taluk; Amletha, Mota Raipura, Khamar-Virpur, Rasela-Poicha, and Khupar-Barsan roads in Dediapada taluk. Metal patchwork was done on Borda-Serula road of Sagabara taluk, and repairs are ongoing in Purjosh and other areas.

In Rajkot district, the administration has started surveying the damage caused by the heavy rains. Under the guidance of District Collector Prabhav Joshi, financial assistance is being provided to affected residents. So far, 510 people have received Rs 61,300, with more payments in progress.

In Dwarka district, the health department is working to prevent disease spread after the rains. Chief District Health Officer Mitesh Bhanderi reported that 378 medical teams have surveyed 49,520 people, identifying cases of diarrhoea, cold, cough, and fever. The department has distributed 756 ORS packets, 17,864 chlorine tablets, and conducted 17,862 chlorine tests. Cleanliness work has been carried out at 979 places, and mobile health teams have set up camps at 14 locations to provide health facilities to citizens.
