Greg Barclay to Step Down as ICC Chairperson

Greg Barclay has announced that he will step down as the Chairperson of the International Cricket Council (ICC) after his term ends in November 2024. Barclay was first appointed in November 2020 and re-elected unopposed in 2022. Nominations for the next Chair are due by August 27, 2024. If there are more than two candidates, an election will be held, with the new Chair’s term starting on December 1, 2024.

Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 Moved to UAE

The ICC has confirmed that the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 will be moved from Bangladesh to the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The tournament will take place in Dubai and Sharjah from October 3 to 20. ICC Chief Executive Geoff Allardice expressed regret over the move but thanked the Emirates Cricket Board for stepping in to host the event. He also acknowledged the support from Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe.

The UAE has become an important hub for cricket, hosting numerous tournaments, including the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in 2021.
