On Friday, Arunachal Pradesh Governor KT Parnaik took part in a discussion about security challenges in the North East, focusing on Arunachal Pradesh, at Raj Bhavan, Itanagar. The event included security experts, social leaders, educators, and media professionals who shared their insights.

The Governor highlighted the security issues facing the northeast and Arunachal Pradesh. He discussed actions to improve security along the Myanmar border and emphasized the importance of strengthening the northern borders using technology and integrating local populations with security forces near the Line of Actual Control (LAC). He also addressed the Chinese War Doctrine and their activities along the border, stressing the need for strategic and tactical reciprocity to create leverage for resolution.

The discussion also covered the strategic implications of events in Bangladesh, Nepal, and neighboring countries on the North East States, particularly Arunachal Pradesh. Jaideep Saikia, a resource person, spoke on the ‘Security Scenario in North East India’ and suggested forming a ‘Security Council for North East’ to enhance coordination among NE States. Group Captain Mohonto Panging Pao (Retd.) discussed various security aspects in Arunachal Pradesh.

Other participants included Major General Jarken Gamlin (Retd.), State Chief Information Commissioner, and defense experts like Lt Gen VK Chaturvedi (Retd.), Air Vice Marshal HP Singh (Retd.), and Brig DS Tripathi (Retd.).
