Government Reserves MBBS Seats for Families of Terrorism Victims

The Indian government has announced the reservation of four MBBS seats for the 2024-25 academic year for the spouses and children of civilian victims of terrorism. These seats are available in various medical colleges and institutes across the country.

Details of the Reserved Seats

One seat each will be allocated to:

  • AN Magadh Medical College, Gaya, Bihar
  • Grant Medical College, Mumbai, Maharashtra

Two seats will be allocated to:

  • Pt. JNM Medical College, Raipur, Chhattisgarh

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible, candidates must:

  • Be the spouse or children of deceased or disabled civilian victims of terrorism
  • Be at least 17 years old by December 31 of the admission year
  • Be Indian nationals
  • Have passed Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Bio-Technology, and English with at least 50% marks (40% for SC/ST/OBC and 45% for Gen-PH and 40% for SC-PWD/ST-PWD/OBC-PWD)
  • Achieve minimum marks at the 50th percentile in NEET (UG)-2024 (40th percentile for SC/ST/OBC and 45th percentile for candidates with special disabilities)

Application Process

Priority will be given to:

  • Children whose both parents were killed by terrorists
  • Children of families whose sole breadwinner was killed by terrorists
  • Wards of victims with permanent disabilities and serious injuries caused by terrorist operations

Applications, along with all required documents attested by the Home Department of the concerned state or Union Territory, must be sent by speed post or registered post to the CTCR division of the Ministry of Home Affairs by September 17, 2024. Only applications received by this date will be considered, and no extensions or reminders will be issued.

Permanent disabilities -: Permanent disabilities are injuries or conditions that last for a person’s whole life and make it hard for them to do everyday things.

NEET -: NEET stands for National Eligibility cum Entrance Test. It is an exam students in India take to get into medical colleges.

Academic criteria -: Academic criteria are the rules about what grades or scores you need to have to be eligible for something, like getting into a college.
