On Monday, Gopal Rai, a leader from the Aam Aadmi Party, took charge as the environment minister in the Delhi government. He emphasized his commitment to continuing the work initiated by former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. Rai highlighted the challenge of controlling pollution during winter and mentioned that a Winter Action Plan has been prepared in consultation with experts and relevant departments. He has scheduled a meeting with the Chief Secretary to discuss the plan’s implementation, which will be released on September 25.
Atishi as Chief Minister
Atishi assumed the role of Chief Minister of Delhi on Monday, following her oath-taking on September 22. She was named the successor by AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal. In a symbolic gesture, Atishi placed an empty chair beside her, dedicating it to Kejriwal. She expressed her confidence in Kejriwal’s return as Chief Minister in the upcoming assembly elections in February next year.
Arvind Kejriwal’s Resignation
Arvind Kejriwal resigned from his position as Chief Minister on September 17, citing corruption allegations and his commitment to clean politics. He addressed the public, stating that he did not enter politics for personal gain but to serve the country.
