Goods Train Derails in Nadia, West Bengal: Restoration Underway
A goods train’s guard bogie derailed in the goods ward of Ranaghat, located in Nadia district, West Bengal, on Sunday evening. The incident occurred during internal shunting. Despite the derailment, train movement on the Sealdah-Ranaghat rail route remains normal. Railway employees have begun restoration work.
Sealdah Eastern Railway DRM Deepak Nigam stated, “On Sunday evening, during internal shunting, the rear guard bogie of a goods train derailed in the goods ward of Ranaghat. But the movement of trains on the Sealdah Ranaghat branch is normal. Railway employees have started the work of bringing the goods train back on track.”
Earlier in the day, a freight train traveling from Alwar Goods Station to Rewari derailed on the Mathura track at around 2:30 AM. Railway authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the derailment. Rescue and relief operations are in progress to restore normalcy on the affected line. According to Manish Goyal, the Additional Divisional Railway Manager of Jaipur, train movement has not been affected by this incident.
On Saturday, at least seven coaches of a goods train derailed between the Ghaziabad and Moradabad section in Uttar Pradesh, as reported by railway officials.
