Passenger from Singapore Caught with Hidden Gold

A male passenger who arrived from Singapore was caught at Tiruchirappalli Airport with gold worth over Rs 1 crore. The Customs Department reported that the gold, weighing 1.605 kg, was hidden in paste form under knee caps worn by the passenger.

The passenger had arrived on Scoot Airlines flight TR562. Further investigations are ongoing.

Previous Incidents

In May, three passengers arriving from Kuala Lumpur were arrested with 96 gold rods worth Rs 16.17 lakh. The gold was hidden in the bottom wheels screws of their trolley bags.

In April, a passenger arriving from Dubai was caught with 977 grams of gold valued at Rs 70.58 lakh. The gold was hidden in paste form in the rectum of the passenger.
