Two Separate Incidents

Customs officials at Trichy Airport in Tamil Nadu seized gold worth over one crore rupees in two separate incidents. The seizures occurred on Saturday, involving two male passengers arriving on Air India Express flights.

First Incident

In the first case, a male passenger arriving from Singapore was found with seven gold biscuits weighing 700 grams and gold jewelry weighing 94 grams. The total value of the gold was Rs 47,75,400.

Second Incident

In the second case, another male passenger arriving from Dubai was caught with gold weighing around 995.500 grams. The gold, valued at Rs 60,42,685, was extracted from paste-like materials concealed in the passenger’s rectum.

Customs officials continue to monitor and prevent illegal gold smuggling at the airport.
