In a significant operation, two passengers were arrested at Mumbai airport for smuggling gold. The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) in Mumbai reported that three packages of foreign-origin gold, weighing a total of 9487 grams and valued at Rs 7.69 Crores, were recovered. The passengers were on flight IX 1762 from Jaipur to Mumbai when they were intercepted by DRI officials.

According to the DRI, the passengers admitted in their statements that they had concealed the smuggled gold in the international route of the flight and later retrieved it. It was also discovered that they were traveling with fake identities. The arrests were made under the Customs Act of 1962. Further investigations are ongoing.
