The Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) has seized 466.5 grams of gold from a passenger at Kerala’s Cochin International Airport. The gold was being smuggled from Doha to Kochi via Dubai on flight number FZ 453. The passenger was intercepted at the exit gate, and eight gold chains were found hidden in the soles of his shoes. The gold is worth over Rs 30 lakhs, and further investigation is underway.

Earlier, on August 9, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) seized 1,390.85 grams of gold from a passenger at Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport. The gold was smuggled from Dubai to Hyderabad on flight number EK-528. The passenger was intercepted at the exit area of the International Arrival Hall, and two large metal bars shaped like batteries and a metal chain were found in his left shoe and backpack. Investigations are ongoing.
