In a significant move towards sustainable energy, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has launched the ‘Goem Vinamulya Vij Yevjan’ initiative in Goa. This scheme is aligned with the Prime Minister’s Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana and aims to boost solar energy adoption in the state.

Empowering Households

The new scheme is designed to enhance solar rooftop capacity and empower residential households in Goa to generate their own electricity. CM Sawant stated that the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana aims to increase the share of solar rooftop capacity and empower residential households to generate their electricity.

Financial Details

The scheme has an outlay of Rs 75,021 crore and is to be implemented till FY 2026-27. The government of Goa, under the Goem Vinamulya Vij Yevjan, with an initial investment of 35 crore, in addition to the Central Financial Assistance, will bear the balance cost of the rooftop installation up to 5 kW for consumers consuming 400 or fewer units for the last year.

Call to Action

CM Sawant urged all residential consumers to strengthen the PM-Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana and Goem Vinamulya Vij Yevjan by availing of the benefits of a zero electricity bill.

Budget Praise

Earlier, CM Sawant praised the Union Budget for its focus on various sectors, calling it a ‘pro budget’ for villages, the poor, and the industrial sector. He highlighted the major expenditures in defence, rural development, agriculture, education, IT, health, energy, and commerce.

He emphasized that Goa will benefit significantly from the budget through infrastructure development and special proposals, fulfilling the 25-year vision of Viksit Bharat given by PM Modi.
