Ghulam Osman Yaghma Speaks on China’s Actions Towards Taiwan

Edmonton, Canada – The international community is worried about China’s aggressive stance towards Taiwan. Many countries see China’s military threats and strong words as dangerous for both regional and global peace.

Ghulam Osman Yaghma, the former President of the East Turkistan Government in Exile, shared his thoughts on X. He believes that China’s bold moves towards Taiwan are because the US is hesitant to confront China directly. He also mentioned that Western countries are focused on other conflicts, like the Russia-Ukraine war and the situation in Gaza.

Yaghma suggested that the US could counter China by setting up a military base near East Turkistan with Mongolia’s help. This would make China rethink its strategy on Taiwan and also help Mongolia against Chinese and Russian influences.

Yaghma’s comments come at a time when tensions between China and Taiwan are rising. Taiwan has even warned its citizens to avoid traveling to China, Hong Kong, and Macao due to threats from Beijing. Liang Wen-chieh, a spokesperson for Taiwan’s Mainland Affairs Council, issued this warning.

China sees Taiwan as part of its territory and has not talked to Taiwan’s government since President Tsai Ing-wen took office in 2016. Beijing has threatened severe punishments, including the death penalty, for those supporting Taiwan’s independence. Taiwan has condemned these threats, saying Beijing has no legal power over Taiwan.

The Mainland Affairs Council called China’s new rules “regrettable” and harmful to relations between people in Taiwan and mainland China. They advised Taiwanese people in China to be careful and watchful.

China’s actions are part of its long-standing claim over Taiwan, which has governed itself since 1949. The Chinese Communist Party sees Taiwan’s independence as a threat to its control, leading to legal and economic pressures on Taiwan.
