Ghulam Nabi Azad, Chief of the Democratic Progressive Azad Party, expressed his approval of the interim bail granted to Lok Sabha MP Engineer Rashid. Rashid, who ran as an Independent candidate, defeated National Conference vice president Omar Abdullah in the recent Lok Sabha elections. Rashid’s regular bail application is still pending, with a decision expected on September 11. He had previously been granted a two-hour custody parole on July 5 to take the oath as a Member of Parliament. Rashid has faced multiple arrests, including in 2005 and 2019, but has continued to maintain his political influence.
