German Chancellor Olaf Scholz Visits Goa
The Chief Minister of Goa, Pramod Sawant, warmly welcomed the Chancellor of Germany, Olaf Scholz, during his visit to Dabolim, Goa. Scholz is on a three-day visit to India and will be visiting two German ships, the Frigate Baden-Wurttemberg and the supply ship Frankfurt am Main, which are docked in Goa as part of military exchanges between India and Germany.
Warm Welcome in Goa
Pramod Sawant, along with other officials including MoS for Ports Shripad Naik, MoS for Defence Sanjay Seth, Minister for Protocol Mauvin Godinho, and Secretary Protocol Sanjit Rodrigues, received Scholz at INS Hansa, Dabolim. Sawant presented Scholz with a Kunbi shawl and a traditional lamp. The Chancellor was also greeted with a traditional Indian Tika and a Goan folk fusion performance.
German Navy’s Visit
The German Navy’s frigate Baden-Wuerttemberg and the combat support ship Frankfurt am Main made a scheduled port call at Goa’s Mormugao Port. German Navy Captain Helge Risch expressed pleasure in visiting India, highlighting its status as the world’s largest democracy and a key regional partner.
Visit to BITS Pilani
During his visit, Scholz also went to BITS Pilani in Goa, where he interacted with students and explored their innovative projects. He discussed the potential for collaboration between India and Germany in renewable energy, emphasizing the rapid growth of green energy in India.
