George Kurian Elected to Rajya Sabha from Madhya Pradesh
Union Minister George Kurian has been elected unopposed to the Rajya Sabha seat from Madhya Pradesh. He received his election certificate from Returning Officer Arvind Sharma at the State Assembly on Tuesday. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and BJP state President VD Sharma were present during the ceremony.
Kurian expressed his gratitude to the people of Madhya Pradesh, the state and central party leadership, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He also thanked CM Mohan Yadav for providing a Rs 20 crore grant to Kerala for landslide relief in Wayanad.
CM Mohan Yadav congratulated Kurian, stating that his presence in the Rajya Sabha would strengthen the voice of Madhya Pradesh. VD Sharma also extended his greetings to Kurian on X.
With Kurian’s election, there are now seven union ministers from Madhya Pradesh in the third term of the Modi government, including Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Jyotiraditya Scindia, Virendra Kumar, Durgadas Uikey, Savitri Thakur, L Murugan, and George Kurian.
The Rajya Sabha seat became vacant after Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia was elected as an MP in the Lok Sabha from the Guna constituency in the 2024 general elections.
