General Upendra Dwivedi’s Visit to Japan
Chief of the Army Staff, General Upendra Dwivedi, has embarked on a four-day visit to Japan to enhance defense cooperation between India and Japan. On his first day, he will meet with Indian Ambassador Sibi George in Tokyo to discuss India-Japan relations.
Meetings with Japanese Military Leaders
On October 15, General Dwivedi will hold discussions with senior Japanese military leaders, including General Yoshida Yoshihide and General Morishita Yasunori, at the Ministry of Defense in Ichigaya. These talks aim to strengthen military cooperation between the two countries. He will also pay homage at the Memorial at MoD, Ichigaya, and receive a Guard of Honour from the Japan Ground Self-Defence Force (JGSDF).
Visit to Fuji School and Hiroshima
On October 16, General Dwivedi will visit Fuji School with General Morishita Yasunori, where he will meet Lieutenant General Kodama Yasuyuki and witness an Equipment and Facility Display. On October 17, he will visit Hiroshima to lay a wreath at Hiroshima Peace Park and pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi’s Statue.
Strengthening Indo-Pacific Ties
Earlier, on October 10, Indian Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi met with General Yoshida Yoshihide in New Delhi as part of Exercise ‘MALABAR 2024,’ involving India, Japan, the United States, and Australia. They discussed enhancing defense cooperation and exploring new opportunities for collaboration in the Indo-Pacific region.
