General Upendra Dwivedi Opens Manthan Prangan at CLAWS in Delhi
New Delhi, July 22: Chief of the Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi inaugurated a new facility called ‘Manthan Prangan’ at the Centre for Land Warfare Studies (CLAWS) on Monday. This new facility aims to advance national and global security by fostering strategic thought, innovation, and research in land warfare and conflict resolution.
The state-of-the-art Manthan Prangan will be available to think tanks and agencies working on defense and security matters. It will promote innovative research in collaboration with various stakeholders.
During the event, nine Chairs of Excellence were signed to attract top scholars and practitioners to enhance CLAWS’ research capabilities. These include:
- Army Technological Chair of Excellence: Focuses on advancing military technologies.
- Captain Gurbachan Singh Salaria, Param Vir Chakra, Chair of Excellence: Sponsored by the Deputy Chief of Army Staff (Information System and Coordination), it fosters research in military innovations and strategies.
- Civil-Military Fusion Chair of Excellence: Enhances interoperability and strategic coordination.
- Major General Harkirat Singh Chair of Excellence: Focuses on military engineering technology and innovation.
- Director General Infantry Chair of Excellence: Advances infantry tactics, technology integration, and strategic doctrine.
- General Zorawar Chair of Excellence: Focuses on strategic studies and regional security.
- Roaring Fours Manoeuvre Chair of Excellence: Advances armoured warfare strategies and tactics.
- Director General Artillery Chair of Excellence: Advances artillery strategies, technologies, and operational doctrines.
- Defence Chair of Excellence: Sponsored by Adani Defence and Aerospace, it fosters research and development in defense technologies.
This initiative will enhance strategic studies and innovative defense research at CLAWS, marking a new era of public-private partnership models for advanced military studies.
Two books were also released at the event: ‘India and the Gulf: A Security Perspective’ by Manjari Singh and ‘Securing the Future: A Youth Perspective on National Security Challenges.’ These books aim to contribute significantly to the discussion on contemporary security challenges.
The event was attended by Lieutenant General NS Raja Subramani, Vice Chief of the Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tarun Kumar Aich, Deputy Chief of Army Staff (Strategy), Lieutenant General Dushyant Singh (retired), Director General CLAWS, and other senior officers.
CLAWS, based in New Delhi, is an independent think tank focused on strategic studies and land warfare, covering national security issues, conventional military operations, and sub-conventional warfare.
