General Upendra Dwivedi Becomes New Army Chief
On Monday, General Upendra Dwivedi took over as the new Chief of Army Staff. He expressed his honor in leading the Indian Army and assured the nation that the army is fully capable and ready to face all current and future challenges.
Commitment to Soldiers and Technology
After inspecting a guard of honor at South Block, General Dwivedi emphasized the importance of continuously equipping soldiers with state-of-the-art weapons and technology. He stated that the Indian Army faces unique operational challenges and must evolve its war-fighting strategies to remain prepared.
Path to Self-Reliance
General Dwivedi highlighted the Indian Army’s goal to become self-reliant, or ‘Aatmanirbhar.’ He mentioned that the army will encourage indigenous initiatives and aim to use maximum war systems and equipment manufactured in India.
Support for Veterans and Families
General Dwivedi also committed to supporting veterans, Veer naris (war widows), and their families. He assured them of his full support and acknowledged the sacred responsibility towards them.
Before receiving the Guard of Honour, General Dwivedi took the blessings of his elders.
