General Anil Chauhan Talks About India’s Nuclear Strategy at New Delhi Seminar

Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan reiterated India’s unique nuclear policy of ‘No First Use and Massive Retaliation’ during a seminar in New Delhi on June 26. The event was organized by the Centre for Air Power Studies and the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS).

Key Points from General Chauhan’s Address

General Chauhan highlighted the changing nature of conventional warfare and the renewed focus on nuclear threats in the geopolitical landscape. He stressed the need for:

  • Deeper thought and development of new doctrines
  • Reimagining deterrence strategies
  • Safeguarding nuclear C4I2SR (Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Information, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance) infrastructure

During the seminar, General Chauhan also released the Asian Defence Review 2024, which focuses on emerging technologies and the changing dimensions of threats to India.
