Geert Wilders Condemns Violence Against Hindus in Bangladesh Amid Political Turmoil

Dutch politician Geert Wilders has spoken out against the recent violence targeting Hindus in Bangladesh. He described the attacks as ‘horrific’ and called for an immediate end to the violence, which has led to multiple deaths and the destruction of homes and temples.

Wilders, who leads the right-wing Party for Freedom, expressed his concerns on social media, stating, ‘The violence against Hindus in Bangladesh is horrific. They are being killed and their houses and temples burnt by barbaric Islamic mobs. This must be stopped immediately!’

Bangladesh is currently facing significant political unrest. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina resigned amid widespread protests, initially led by students demanding an end to a quota system for government jobs. These protests have since evolved into broader anti-government demonstrations.

Following Hasina’s resignation, protesters entered the Ganabhaban, the Prime Minister’s residence, and other public buildings, taking various items. They also set fire to Sudha Sadan, the private residence of Hasina’s family, and vandalized the residence of the Chief Justice.

In response to the ongoing challenges, leaders of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement have proposed an interim government led by Nobel Laureate Muhammad Yunus. Sheikh Hasina has arrived in India after her resignation, but it is unclear if she will remain in Delhi or move to another location.
