Gautam Adani Talks About Dharavi Redevelopment and India’s Transformative Years at Jai Hind College
On September 5, Gautam Adani, the Founder and Chairman of the Adani Group, spoke at Jai Hind College in Mumbai. He highlighted the Dharavi Redevelopment Project, emphasizing that it is not just about urban renewal but also about restoring dignity to over one million residents.
Adani extended greetings to teachers on Teachers Day and shared the inspiring history of Jai Hind College, which was founded by two professors from DJ Sindh College in Karachi 75 years ago. He expressed gratitude for being invited by Vikram Nankani to speak at the event.
Adani discussed India’s transformative years, mentioning 1947, 1991, and 2014 as pivotal moments in the nation’s history. He praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership in accelerating reforms and decisive governance since 2014.
He also shared his experiences with the development of Mundra port, which has become India’s largest commercial port and hosts various significant facilities. Adani emphasized the importance of daring to dream big and acting with purpose.
Adani spoke about Khavda in Kutch, which has been transformed into the world’s largest Renewable Energy installation. He also discussed the Dharavi Redevelopment Project, a joint venture between the Adani Group and the Government of Maharashtra, which aims to provide better living conditions for Dharavi’s residents.
The project will offer eligible residents flats with independent kitchens and toilets, measuring a minimum of 350 square feet, the highest among slum redevelopment projects in Mumbai.
