New Delhi, India – Congress leader and Lok Sabha MP Gaurav Gogoi has called for regular all-party meetings to keep the governments of bordering states informed about the ongoing unrest in Bangladesh. He emphasized the importance of these meetings to ensure that all parties, including those in the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), stay alert and coordinated.

External Affairs Minister’s Update

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar provided an update on the situation, stating that there are approximately 19,000 Indian nationals in Bangladesh, including about 9,000 students. Most of these students returned to India in July. Jaishankar assured that the government is in continuous contact with the Indian community in Dhaka through diplomatic missions.

Sheikh Hasina’s Visit to India

Jaishankar also mentioned that Bangladesh’s former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina requested approval to visit India on short notice and arrived in Delhi on Monday evening. This visit followed a meeting with security leaders in Dhaka, after which she decided to resign amid ongoing demonstrations.
