GalaxEye Team Talks to PM Modi About Launching Satellites Next Year

Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India], August 25 – Pranit Mehta, co-founder of the space startup GalaxEye, along with his team members, spoke to Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the Mann Ki Baat radio programme. They discussed their plans to launch their own constellation of satellites next year.

GalaxEye’s Mission

The team, consisting of IIT Madras alumni Suyash, Daniel, Rakshit, Kishan, and Praneet, highlighted the opportunities in the growing space sector. GalaxEye, founded in 2021, has developed a sensor that can penetrate clouds, providing imagery even during cloudy weather and nighttime.

Government Support

Pranit mentioned that the government’s interest in the space sector has motivated them. He praised the government’s support, including the privatization of the space sector and the formation of bodies like InSpace, which facilitate interactions between ISRO and startups.

India’s Space Achievements

In 2023, India achieved significant milestones with the successful landing of Chandrayaan-3 on the Moon’s South Pole and the launch of Aditya-L1, India’s first solar mission. India aims to set up the ‘Bharatiya Antariksha Station’ by 2035 and send the first Indian to the Moon by 2040.

Future Missions

India is preparing for the Gaganyaan mission, which will demonstrate human space capabilities by launching astronauts into orbit and safely bringing them back. A woman robot astronaut named Vyommitra will fly into space ahead of the Gaganyaan mission, scheduled for launch in 2025.
