Gachibowli Stadium in Hyderabad Ready for Intercontinental Cup

The Gachibowli Athletic Stadium in Hyderabad is all set to host the Intercontinental Cup starting September 3. This historic stadium, built in 2002, has seen many important international matches, including the Afro-Asian Games in 2003 and the AFC Challenge Cup.

Thanks to the efforts of the All India Football Federation President Kalyan Chaubey and Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, international football is returning to Gachibowli. The Telangana government has spent over Rs. 15 crores to upgrade the stadium’s facilities, including new dressing rooms, officials’ rooms, and 18,000 new bucket seats.

Teams from India, Syria, and Mauritius will compete in the tournament. Syria is the highest-ranked team at 93, followed by India at 124, and Mauritius at 179. India, the defending champions, will start their preparatory camp on August 31 under head coach Manolo Marquez.
