French President Macron and US President Biden React to Elimination of Hamas Chief Yahya Sinwar

In Paris, France, President Emmanuel Macron has called for the release of hostages still held by Hamas following the elimination of Yahya Sinwar, the mastermind behind the October 7 attacks in Israel last year. Macron described Sinwar as the main person responsible for the attacks and expressed solidarity with the victims, including 48 French citizens. He made these remarks on a social media platform.

US President Joe Biden also commented on the event, stating that the elimination of Sinwar is a “good day” for Israel and the world. He emphasized that the killing of the Hamas leader demonstrates that terrorists cannot escape justice. Biden compared the event to the 2011 operation that led to the death of Osama Bin Laden.

The conflict in Gaza reignited after the October 7, 2023, attack by Hamas, where approximately 2,500 terrorists breached the border into Israel, resulting in over 1,200 deaths and more than 250 hostages taken. In response, Israel launched a counter-offensive against Hamas, aiming to dismantle the terror group while minimizing civilian casualties.
