French Man Faces Trial for Drugging Wife and Inviting Men to Assault Her

A 71-year-old man in France is facing trial for drugging his wife, Gisele, and inviting over 50 men to assault her in their home. The trial began on September 2 in Avignon, and a verdict is expected on December 20.

The Allegations

According to court documents, the abuse lasted nearly a decade, starting in 2011. Police identified 92 assaults by 72 men, with 50 charged. The husband, Dominique, documented many assaults on camera, which helped prosecutors build the case.

Discovery of the Abuse

The abuse came to light in 2020 when Dominique was caught filming under women’s skirts at a shopping center. Police found evidence of the assaults on his phone and computer. Gisele was unaware of the abuse, as she was drugged with sleeping pills and anti-anxiety medication.

Trial Details

Gisele attended the trial with her children. Her lawyer, Stephane Babonneau, said it was difficult for her to hear the defendants’ arguments. Some defendants claimed they were unaware she was drugged. Gisele’s daughter has started an awareness campaign called ‘M’endors Pas’ to highlight drug-facilitated sexual assault.
