France Brings Paris 2024 Olympics to India with Exciting Fan Zones

As France prepares for the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, Team France in India has launched an initiative to bring the games to India. From July 26 to August 11, Alliances francaises across India will host ‘fan zones’ for sports fans.

Fan Zones Across India

These fan zones, located in cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Thiruvananthapuram, will provide live screenings of the Olympic events, especially those featuring Indian athletes. Visitors can also participate in sports activities such as table tennis, badminton, and archery competitions. Contests will be held, with winners receiving Paris 2024 memorabilia.

More Than Just Screenings

The fan zones will also feature exhibitions, workshops, and debates on various aspects of the Olympics and sports. Some locations will screen French and Indian sports movies.

Special Event Announcement

The initiative was announced at a special event on ‘India’s Preparation for Paris 2024’ at the Alliance francaise de Delhi. The event was organized by the Indo-French Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IFCCI) and attended by notable figures including:

• Thierry Mathou, Ambassador of France to India
• Alexandra de Navacelle de Coubertin, President – Pierre de Coubertin Family Association
• Abhinav Bindra, 2008 Olympic Gold Medalist and Young Leader of the France-India Foundation

• Manisha Malhotra, Olympian and Head – Sports Excellence and Scouting, JSW Sports

Ambassador Thierry Mathou stated, ‘Our goal is to ensure that all our Indian friends can partake in the spirit of the Paris 2024 Olympics and celebrate with us the values of international solidarity embodied by this event. We hope that this initiative will bring Paris 2024 closer to the Indian audience and accelerate Indo-French sports cooperation also in view of India’s bid to host the Olympics.’
