Four People Die from Suspected Gas Leak in Chhatarpur, Madhya Pradesh

In Chhatarpur, Madhya Pradesh, four individuals died after falling unconscious due to a suspected poisonous gas leak in a well. The incident occurred in Kurraha village under Garhi Malhara police station on Friday morning.

Details of the Incident

The deceased were identified as Sheikh Altaf (21), Sheikh Aslam (37), Sheikh Wasir (65), and Munna Kushwaha (45). Chhatarpur Superintendent of Police (SP) Agam Jain stated, “An incident came to our notice from Kurraha village under Garhi Malhara police station where four persons died after getting unconscious in a well. Our teams are on the spot. All the bodies have been sent for post-mortem. A case is being registered into the matter and further investigation is underway.”

Medical Examination

District hospital doctor Ashish Shukla said, “According to the family members, there was a 10 to 12 feet deep well in which they were working. One person fell unconscious inside the well and others who went in after him to rescue him also fell unconscious and died.”

As per preliminary examination, it seems there was a poisonous gas leakage inside the well. The actual reason for the deaths will be ascertained after the post-mortem report, the doctor added.
