Former YSRCP MLAs Join Pawan Kalyan’s Jana Sena Party in Vijayawada
In Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, three former MLAs from the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) have joined the Jana Sena Party (JSP). The MLAs, Balineni Srinivasa Reddy, Samineni Udaya Bhanu, and Kilari Rosaiah, were welcomed by JSP president and Deputy Chief Minister K Pawan Kalyan.
Background of the MLAs
Udaya Bhanu was a former YSRCP whip in the Legislative Assembly, while Srinivasa Reddy served as a former Minister for Energy in the YSRCP government. Pawan Kalyan encouraged the new members to strengthen the party by spreading its ideology and addressing people’s issues.
Impact on YSRCP
The defection is a setback for YSRCP, which recently secured only 11 seats in a 175-member Assembly. In the recent election, JSP allied with the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and the BJP. The TDP won 135 seats, JSP won 21 seats, and BJP got eight seats.
Controversy and Investigation
Amid these developments, YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy faced accusations that the ghee used in Tirupati laddoo prasadam contained animal fat. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu announced a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate these allegations. Naidu stated that the SIT would report to the government, and actions would be taken based on the findings to prevent such issues in the future.
However, Jagan Mohan Reddy claimed that the Chief Minister was using these accusations as a diversion tactic to cover up unfulfilled promises.
