Former Principal and Police Officer Sent to Jail in RG Kar Medical College Case

Sandip Ghosh, the former principal of RG Kar Medical College, and Abhijit Mondal, the officer-in-charge of Tala police station, were taken to Presidency Jail from Sealdah Court on Wednesday. They were arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with the rape and murder of a woman doctor at the college.

Earlier this week, the West Bengal Medical Council canceled Sandip Ghosh’s medical practitioner registration. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) also conducted a search at Ghosh’s residence in Chinar Park, Kolkata, as part of a money laundering investigation under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

On September 10, a CBI court remanded Sandip Ghosh and three others to judicial custody for alleged corruption and financial irregularities at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. This investigation followed a directive from the Calcutta High Court.

Meanwhile, junior doctors gathered to pay tribute to the victim of the tragic incident.
